The tournament hosted 1,073 people at one of its six monthly sessions of Golf PARa Todos, or Golf FORE Everyone. The four-year golf educational program has been a tremendous success with attendance soaring near 1,000 each session.

The attendance, witnessed by officials from Guinness, surpassed the old record of 1,032 people recognized by Guinness World Records on Oct. 9, 2010, at Pine Valley, Beijing, China.

"This was one of the most incredible things I have participated in my career, said PGA TOUR player Esteban Toledo, who conducted the clinic. "I have given golf clinics before maybe 400 people. But never in front of over a thousand people. At one point, I was a little bit nervous because I wanted to make sure we broke the record but also learned something as well."

Golf FORE Everyone aims to create a fun-filled, diverse and educational program that teaches about the game of golf and its ideals. The program encourages active participation in the game as a participant and as a fan, and facilitates the integration of golf into the lives of all those within the community. Golf FORE Everyone is a monthly community program presented and created by the Mayakoba Golf Classic in conjunction with El Camaleón Golf Club. It is open to people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of golf skill or knowledge. For more information, visit www.GolfParaTodos.org.

The Mayakoba Golf Classic is celebrating its fifth year on the PGA TOUR. Past champions are: Fred Funk, Brian Gay, Mark Wilson and Cameron Beckman.

Cost of Living in Mexico

Your home purchase will be thee biggest investment you will make and should be taken very seriously. The choices you make will determine not only the quality of life your family will enjoy "at home", but will make a significant difference with "return on investment“. Here we will talk about a few examples of why Mexico is a good investment for you and your family and once you make that decision we will show you that Mexico will be dramatically less expensive in numerous ways.

The cost of living in Mexico is lower than that of the US, Canada and Europe, especially for items that are produced locally. The good news is that this includes most product categories such as food, furniture and transportation. Additionally, if you are resourceful and patient enough to look for the right place and right items, i.e., if you avoid Gringo targets and tourist traps, most products are incredibly affordable. Despite the low cost of living, Mexico supports the 11th largest economy in the world. Areas in Riviera Maya remain among the most attractive in Mexico.

Inevitably, as a gringo living in the Yucatan, you will probably own a pet or rescue one. There are few of us who are able to live here without adopting a homeless dog or cat, and many of us bring our furry friends when we make the big move to Mexico.

How Much Will It Cost?
Prices are unregulated, though, and may vary even within a community. On the low side here are services that may be provided by Canada’s veterinary (teaching hospitals).
Annual checkup (examination and distemper-rabies shot) $55-$100 / Mexico $280 Pesos
Overnight hospital stay $36-$70 / Mexico $170 Pesos
Spaying
Medium dog (10-20 kg) $145-$220 / $1700 Pesos
Cat $98-$175 / $1300 Pesos
Neutering
Medium dog (10-20 kg) $125-$190 / $1400 Pesos
Cat $64-$113 / $700 Pesos
Teeth cleaning (cat) $270+ / $1200 Pesos

Maids in Mexico
One of the first things foreigners notice when they arrive is the amount of maids and chauffeurs their friends have working for them in Mexico. Most expatriates are not used to having domestic help, especially not with live-in maids, for example, so most of them will find this new experience a pleasant change, although it could also prove to be a trying one if you only speak english. Nevertheless, the advantages of having domestic help outweigh any language barriers.

Beside their main work, they can be invaluable in providing security by keeping the house occupied, they can take care of daily chores such as babysitting, taking care of pets, answering phones and other daily tasks which may need attending to while the home owner is absent. Prices vary in US and Canada but for most maid services expect to pay about $25-$35 per hour of work. In the Riviera Maya you will only be expected to pay $200 Pesos for 3-5 hours of work (including your laundry if you want). Talking to X expats that for what ever reason had to move back to their home country always express the same thing and that is how nice it was to not have to clean everyday.

Spanish Group to invest 100m USD in Riviera Maya

Mexican and Foreign investors to continue to look at the Riviera Maya as a great opportunity. A sample of this was the announcement of the TAO Riviera Maya Resort, in which nature, culture and architecture converges.

This ambitious project will begin in March, 2011. With a budget of more than 100 million dollars it will be built in five stages, finishing in approximately six years. In the first stage of the TAO Riviera Maya Resort will develop 100 apartments, in which there will be approximately 20 million dollars invested.

Benjamin Beja Lizama, the director of this real-estate project, revealed that in spite of the current worldwide economic slowdown, Real Estate, especially Real Estate in the Riveira Maya continues to be an outlet for investors as stock market variations make traditional investments seem less secure.

In agreement with the specifications of the project, TAO Riviera Maya will be integrated with apartments, town homes and single family residences. The development will be surrounded by the Mayan Jungle, integrated with the Robert Trent Jones II golf course.

This real-estate project belongs to the Spanish consortium Piñero, which nowadays supports the “Grand Bahía Prince" tourist complex, one of the most important of the region and also owns the Bahía Prince Golf Resort Residential.

Cutting Edge Medical Technology Helps Non-Profit in Playa del Carmen

The Sanar Clinic in Playa del Camen teams up with Fundación Selva Maya to help protect local ecosystems.

By Sara Moen
The Sanar Clinic has always offered new and innovative approaches to integrative medicine to their patients, and they are continually adding cutting edge services to their docket to ensure the best care and variety to their clientele. So it was no surprise to find out they are now offering ES TECK Complex a new technology out of Europe that helps measure 22 different parameters in your body to pin point medical issues that may otherwise go overlooked or unnoticed.
The Foundation
Fundación Selva Maya AC is a small group of private land owners from Quintana Roo that are pushing to create a private natural reserve to protect local jungle and fresh water systems, as well as their associated ecosystems. The land is approximately 900 hectares, and it is located inside the jungle, spanning from Akumal to Ushushuvi, which is filled with cenotes and underground river systems. They are making alliances with local NGO's such as CEMDA, CEAK, SANAR, Razonatura, and CINDAQ, as well as international companies like Zero Gravity, and academic institutions like the Midwestern University. This land is being developed (or not developed as the case may be) as a nature sanctuary for both local ecosystems as well as to research of the karst ecosystems of the Riviera Maya, including the aquifer.
The Technology
ES TECK COMPLEX was originally developed by a French neurologist, Dr. Albert Maarek, and produced by a company out of Belgium, and although widely popular in Europe, the technologies are just now finding their way to the United States and Mexico.
·   How the ES TECK COMPLEX works: Two electrodes are attached to your forehead, both of your hands are placed on stainless steel plates with electrodes that are then plugged into each plate, and a pulse oximeter is attached to your left pointer finger. Your feet are then placed on similar stainless steel plates that have an additional 2 electrodes attached to each one.  All of the electrodes are then plugged into a computer program feeding it information on 22 different body parameters such as blood volume, corporal production of energy, and shape and composition of body fluids.  Each parameter is then analyzed and the scan produces everything from system overloads, deficits, diagnosis, and suggested therapies. It can read everything from physical and emotional stress to heart and liver functions, and yes, even your libido!

How The Foundation and The Technology came to The Sanar Clinic
Dr. Suarez, Founder of the Sanar Clinic, has a patient that is a member of Fundación Selva, who knew about the scanner, and thought it would be a perfect fit for the clinic. Fundación Selva then purchased the scanner for SANAR to operate it, and in return Dr. Suarez will designate the proceeds generated by the use of this new technology directly to Fundación Selva. It was a perfect fit; technology brought to Sanar’s patients, supporting a local non-profit, all the while protecting our ecosystems along the Riviera Maya Coastline; a win, win for everyone!!!
My Experience
I have been a dedicated patient, and advocate, to the Sanar Clinic since they first opened their doors in 2006, and am always the first to refer a friend, publicize events and new services, and I am ALWAYS a willing guinea pig. Being one of those pale skinned folk that have strange allergies, and unexplained ailments, both Western and Integrative Medicine are not new to me. Once I found the perfect combination of the two at the Sanar Clinic; a scientific diagnostic approach coupled with preventative therapies, I was sold. I am always the first in line to try something new; ozone therapy, acupuncture, chiropractics, vitamin C treatments for skin, detox foot baths, therapeutic massage, dietary consultation; if the Sanar Clinic offers it I have more than likely have tried it. So when I went in recently and was not feeling well Dr. Suarez suggested that I try the new scanning system, and I said “Sign me up!!!”
The End Result
Keep in mind this innocent looking little system looks harmless enough, and it causes no discomfort, only lasts a few minutes, and produces an incredible amount of knowledge to you and your doctor, but remember it does not keep ANY secrets!!! It tells your doctor everything so don’t try pulling the wool over his eyes! The cool thing is that it pinpoints issues that are currently happening within your body, but it can be a great tool for preventative medicine as well.
The Benefit
If you decide to go ahead and get the scan, one of the amazing benefits is that you can then receive additional scans throughout current treatments, and you can physically see the difference right in front of you on a computer screen….it works!

Love is in the Air - Romance in Riviera Maya

February 14th, a date which inspires great visions of candle light dinners, dewy red roses and faces lit up with joy in reaction to the perfect romantic gift (diamonds anyone?).  Sadly, the reality is often a rushed dinner with the kids throwing nuggets, wilting convenience store flowers and a forced smile as the stuffed teddy bear holding a heart is pulled from the cellophane with the price tag still on.  Why not shake things up this year, start the new decade off right with a magical, spur of the moment jaunt to the beautiful Riviera Maya with that special someone?
Finding the right hotel for romance is your top priority.  When I am dreaming of a romantic escape, my thoughts turn to the Bel Air Collection in Cancun.  This hip boutique hotel was made for lovers, with sweet details such as private dinners on the beach, couples spa treatments and jacuzzi-suites.  The staff will go out of their way to make your stay extra-special, decorating your room with rose petals, candles and drawing a heavenly scented bubble bath for two or arranging moonlight couples massages on the beach.  Stroll hand in hand down the gorgeous stretch of sand, enjoy a cool glass of champagne by the pool and simply enjoy being with the one you love on a worry-free romantic getaway.
For couples looking for something a little spicier, Temptation Resort and Spa in Cancun will definitely heat up your Valentine’s.   This unique adults-only hotel offers a sensual concept for open-minded couples, with “risque” pool-side games and wild nights in their onsite night club, “Nice Shoes”.  The all-inclusive resort offers deluxe and jacuzzi suites, a variety of dining options and a white sandy beach on the Bay of Mujeres.  A stay at Temptation is sure to light a spark in your love life, add some sizzle to your romance and will certainly be a couples’ vacation you’ll never forget.
This is a romantic vacation and some may not want to leave the suite (wink wink, nudge nudge), but couples with a sense of adventure will find plenty of activities that are ideal for sharing with the better half.  The Lobster Dinner Cruise Cancun is the only “romance” tour in Cancun.  Enjoy a leisurely sail on a wooden galleon, sun setting over the lagoon, stars above, live jazz and a delicious surf and turf dinner.   Garrafon Park on the small island of Isla Mujeres is a great place for a couples day trip, spectacular views of the Caribbean, relaxing hammock gardens, infinity pool on the sea and zip lines, kayaks and snorkeling for the adventurous soul.  Treat your love to the experience of a lifetime with a swim with dolphin program with Dolphin Discovery (though beware, those dolphins are known to kiss even the married ladies!)  Add an extreme adventure to your trip with the adrenaline-filled fun at  Hidden Worlds Park.  Ride horses on the beach, snorkel the reef teeming with sea life, or discover history and culture through the Mayan ruins, or do nothing but gaze into each other’s eyes, the possibilities are endless in the Mexican Caribbean.
The most important thing you’ll do on your romantic Riviera Maya vacation is spend quality time with that special person.  No phones ringing, no kids calling your name, no dishes to wash, no laundry to fold.  The time is yours and honey’s alone, leave your worries at home and the smartphones off, “disconnect to reconnect” and return home refreshed, rejuvenated and more in love than when you left.  Trust me men, a surprise trip to the Riviera Maya for Valentine’s Day is going to make up for all those forgotten years and lame last minute purchases, book now (before you forget again) and give her something that you’ll both love!

Riviera Maya: Hollywood Celebrities’ Latest Hideaway Hot Spot

The daily lives of celebrities are not half bad, and you should see where they are vacationing.  Truly celebrities have got it easy when it comes to planning vacations.  Top earning stars like Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Paul McCartney, and Leonardo Dicaprio can afford any accommodations they desire and can literally go wherever they want as often as they want, and usually do, by private jet or chartered yacht.
Most celebrities have at least 7- 8 vacations annually built into their existing work contracts and their travel itineraries focus on only the most beautiful places and best hotels in the world.  Their full-time travel assistants scourer the Earth searching for the most exquisite destinations and latest hot spots.  Some may not care that much about the day-to-day lives of celebrities, but most would like to know about the wonderful places they are staying.
One such place celebrities have honed in on is a spectacular, pristine-patch of white-sand beach along Mexico’s Caribbean coast, known as the Riviera Maya.  Here, the Turquoise waters are crystalline clear and bath-tub warm year round.  These tree-lined, jungle beaches are the home of the world famous Corona commercials and recently lauded by Condé Nast Traveler as “The Most Beautiful Beaches in the World”.  Exactly how celebrities discovered this Mayan Eden is unclear, but one thing’s certain, they are coming in droves.
In the last month alone, A-list celebrities such as Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Adam Sandler, Javier Bardem, The Rock, Jackie Chan, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Salma Hayek were all spotted hanging out in this emerging Hollywood hideaway.  Along with their family and friends, celebrities arrive on private planes and are quickly whisked away to luxury hotel diggs or haute palapa huts in black-windowed limousines or jet-powered helicopters, virtually invisible to the public at large.
The come here to visit world class hotels and resorts and palm-roofed, eco-chic yoga spas.  The Riviera Maya’s Moroma Resort and Spa, an Orient-Express hotel, regularly sees the likes of Tom Cruise, Celine Dion, Elton John, Robert Plant, Tony Blair, Sean Penn, Cameron Diaz, Sharon Stone, and Robert Redford, they all favor the same room (number 23).  Tom Cruise visits so often that they owners constructed a special suite for Tom, Katie and the kids.
The 5-star Tides Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen, hidden deep in the tropical jungle,  has been the favorite hideaway for Leonardo Dicaprio and entertainment billionaire Mary-Kate Olson.  Nearby Esencia, which began as the vacation villa of an italian duchess, frequently attracts Hollywood luminaries including Gwyneth Paltrow and Uma Thurman , who are welcomed into the Mayan thatched-roof abode with a fresh pot of black beans simmering over an open fire.  They usually request “Rosa’s Suite”, the white bedroom where the duchess herself slept.
Tulum, the jewel of the Riviera Maya, is a home away from home for show business moguls like Mick Jagger, Drew Barrymore, Fergie, Jude Law, Eva Longoria, Sienna Miller and was the favorite vacation get-away for the late Jerry Garcia.
What’s drawing this red carpet crowd to the 80-mile swath of beaches just South of the Border?  For one, it’s convenient, only a hop, skip and a jump by plane from most American airports.  Secondly, the culture here is extremely diverse with over 47 countries represented including Americans, Italians, Canadians, Argentineans, Spanish, British, Swiss, Germans, and French.  Perhaps no other beach front community in the world boast so much diversity and culture in one place, like visiting Europe but in Mexico.  One can only imagine the gourmet, culinary cuisine such a cultural mix delightfully brings to the distinguished palate.
Oh yeah, there’s also world class shopping, 7th Wonder ruins, and the best rated spas and yoga retreats in the world.  All this in one place and yet the prices here, compared to other celebrity diggs, are still surprisingly affordable.
Celebrities do indeed live better lives than most.  They can afford to travel anywhere and seemingly spend as much as they want.  If you are lucky enough to visit one of the places they frequent, like Riviera Maya, you are likely not to be disappointed.  Usually the only set back to living the celebrity lifestyle is that you need a celebrity’s bank account.
The good news is, that in this sacred part of Mexico’s Caribbean coast, almost everybody can still afford to enjoy the same beaches, resorts, spas, restaurants and shopping that Tom Cruise and his cronies know all too well.

Mexico expands Caribbean nature reserve

The additional territory expands the reserve to nearly a million hectares (2.5 million acres). Sian Ka'an provides habitat for 103 mammal species and 336 species of birds, has 23 archaeological sites, some as many as 2,300 years old, and several thousand local inhabitants.

Quintana Roo includes Cancun and the Riviera Maya, whose highly developed coast has more than 150 hotels and is Mexico's prime destination for sun, sea and sand.

In recent years, federal authorities limited the activities of some hotels on the edge of the reserve, protected by a 1981 presidential decree that created Tulum National Park.
The nature of the hotel business poses a threat to Sian Ka'an's turtles and other protected animals, and to the Mayan archaeological ruins.
In recent years, tourism authorities and the business sector have discussed developing tourism in the southern part of Quintana Roo on the border with Belize, which met with immediate protests from environmental groups.

"Everyone is after those plots of land," the president of the Mayab Ecological Group, Araceli Dominguez, told Efe.

The area holds the biggest underground river system in the world, a vital reserve of fresh water, so that any construction would entail another threat to the natural state of the land and its wildlife, she said.

Dominguez complained that federal authorities are even thinking of putting a new international airport in the area to boost tourism development, and considered it a huge mistake "to have Tulum's growth explode" through massive tourism.

"Development can be done, but in line with environmental criteria and in low densities," she said.

3 Things That Make Caribbean Weddings Special

Caribbean weddings certainly make a change from getting married in the UK. Although a wedding is always a special occasion, you have to admit that sometimes it can be a lot more romantic to go abroad for the big day. If you decide that Caribbean weddings sound like the perfect option for you, here are a few things that will make your wedding really special.

The Beach

There is nothing quite as romantic as a tropical beach for the setting of the wedding of your dreams. Just imagine getting married on the golden sand with the waves lapping up at the shore and palm trees rustling in the breeze. This is what many people dream about when they think of Caribbean weddings, and many couples choose to make the beach the setting when they tie the knot. And why not? The beach is absolutely ideal. If you get a pleasant day and wherever you are in the Caribbean theres a good chance of that happening then youll be in your element.
Luckily, the Caribbean has plenty of beaches to choose from on every island. Research a few of these until you find the perfect one where you can imagine your wedding taking place, and then go ahead and arrange your big day or better still, let an expert do it for you.

The Weather

Lets face it: when you get married in the UK the weather is always going to pose a threat. You may plan the perfect outdoors ceremony or reception, but if the weather has other ideas then there is not a lot you can do about it. Even in the middle of summer there is no guarantee that you will get a dry day, which is a cause of constant concern. With Caribbean weddings the weather is much less of a problem. Although it does rain in the Caribbean, because it is in the tropics, there is a good chance that you will have clear blue skies and hot sun when you tie the knot. With the chances of good weather much higher, this is one thing you wont have to worry about too much in the build up to your wedding day.

The Relaxed Vibe

Wherever you head in the Caribbean, youll find that everywhere you go shares the same relaxed vibe. In the build up to a wedding, things can often get quite stressful as the last-minute preparations are made. But with Caribbean weddings this is minimised simply because of the peaceful and chilled-out surroundings that will add an element of calm to the preparations and the big day itself. So if you think youre going to be a nervous wreck, it could be a good idea to get married in the Caribbean.

Head to the Caribbean for Your Wedding

Caribbean weddings are very special occasions, and if you decide to hold your wedding in the Caribbean then youll be making a great decision. With the stunning beaches, the glorious weather and the seriously chilled-out vibe, you really couldnt plan your wedding in a better destination.
